Cazoo, an online used car sales platform, has hired former dunnhumby / MoneySuperMarket data chief Piers Stobbs as Chief Data Officer, ahead of its launch later this month.Using the Cazoo platform, customers will be able to select from thousands of cars online and have their selected vehicle delivered to them in as little as 48 hours. Stobbs (pictured) joins after four years at MoneySuperMarket, where he served as Chief Data Officer, leading data science, data engineering and analytics, and before that was Head of Data Science at dunnhumby, building and leading a Data Science team. Earlier, he was Head of Quantitative Strategy at Oxalyst and Quantitative Research Analyst at Meditor Capital Management.
In his new role, Stobbs will be responsible for all aspects of data including product analytics, business intelligence, data science and AI, data engineering and governance. He will report directly to founder and CEO Alex Chesterman, who comments: 'I am very pleased to welcome Piers Stobbs to the Cazoo team. His experience in building customer centric data teams and using data to drive value will create fundamental advantages in our model in terms of how we apply data across all areas of the business, most notably throughout the stocking process'.
