Audience measurement and analytics body BARC India has appointed Mindshare India's former Head of Data & Technology, Mahendra Upadhyay, as Chief Information Officer.Launched in 2015, joint industry company BARC (The Broadcast Audience Research Council of India) owns and manages the country's TV audience measurement system; while providing a suite of insight products designed for broadcasters, advertisers and agencies. Upadhyay (pictured) joins after more than three years at WPP media agency network Mindshare, where he was responsible for overseeing data and technology for the Product team. He previously worked for telecoms giant Ericsson as General Manager, Consulting, Big Data Analytics & Customer Experience Management, before which, he served as Principal Solutions Architect for the SAS Institute, developing business intelligence and customer analytics solutions.
Commenting on the appointment, CEO Sunil Lulla said: 'We are happy to welcome Mahendra on board as the Chief Information Officer, BARC India. With his mix of leadership roles across industries, he brings a diverse cross-industry perspective that we will be able to leverage immensely for the benefit of our clients and for the industry.'
