Hungary and UK-based social media listening specialist Bakamo has opened an office in Washington DC, which will be led by founder and CEO Daniel Fazekas. The firm uses a proprietary approach called DeepScape to understand social media conversations and uncover the themes that motivate people to participate in online discussions. The Bakamo Public division helps governments, NGOs, charities, foundations and philanthropic entities to address global societal challenges, such as migration across the EU, on which it published a report last year.
As well as taking over leadership of the new US office, Fazekas (pictured) will continue to split his time between the offices in Hungary, Germany and the UK. Over the last year, the firm has been working closely with Washington DC-based think tank the McCain Institute, and has delivered solutions to a number of US organizations from its joint bases.
Commenting on the expansion, Fazekas (pictured) said: 'It is an unusual time to be opening our US office, in the middle of a global pandemic and not actually visiting the office in person for the foreseeable future. However, our team is known to us, we've worked with them in the past, we will expand rapidly, we have lots of experience in the US already, especially in the public space, and I can't wait for us to grow larger than our European base'.
