UK-based consumer and sensory researcher MMR Group has opened an office in Amsterdam, where it has appointed former Flavors & Fragrances exec James Gater as Regional Head, Netherlands.MMR works with clients in the food, drink and personal care sectors, and as well as the UK has offices in South Africa, the USA, Brazil, China and India; plus Sensory Science Centres in Shanghai, Singapore and New York. Last year, the firm launched an approach called sensory charged video, which uses its expertise to deconstruct how a category and its products play out on a sensory level, then finds the language to communicate this in a motivating way.
Gater (pictured) began his research career at MMR, joining in 2010 as Sensory Research Executive, and latterly served as Sensory Solutions Head (China). For the past nearly six years he worked at International Flavors & Fragrances in the Netherlands, most recently as CSI Global Sensory Senior Manager.
In his new role, he reports to MD EMEA Judith Henderson, who comments: 'The Netherlands has a unique and strong heritage in food and drink innovation, a passion which we have shared for more than 30 years. With James leading our offering in the Netherlands, clients will also benefit from our wider family of companies, including Huxly Global for brand strategy and KICR Innovation for breakthrough NPD'.
