Global data and measurement-driven media agency Essence has promoted Anna Berry to the role of UK Managing Director, replacing Ali Reed who has been appointed CEO of Omnicom-owned media and marcoms firm PHD.
From headquarters in London, and offices in Tokyo, Singapore, New York, Seattle and San Francisco, WPP-owned Essence combines data science and insights with media expertise to build connections between brands and consumers. In August, the firm launched a service called Data Health Check consulting, to help brands develop their audience data strategies, and a month earlier it announced that its EMEA Consulting division will now offer the group's data, media and technology expertise as a standalone service.
Berry (pictured) joined the firm in 2018 as VP Client Partner, and most recently served as its SVP Head of Client Services EMEA. Prior to this she spent nearly two decades at WPP-owned media investment network MediaCom, having begun her career in planner / buyer roles at BLM Group.
In her new role, Berry will help EMEA CEO Tim Irwin grow the UK business with a focus on analytics, creative, data and technology, media and strategy. As well as working in partnership with the Client Services and specialist team, Berry will also be responsible for developing initiatives to drive sustainability, diversity and inclusion. Irwin comments: 'Anna has made a significant contribution to our business since joining three years ago and in the last year she has been an inspiring leader of our Client Services practice. This promotion reflects our need to continue to drive our business forward, with senior leadership looking at all aspects of what we do'.
