London-based brand, communications and experience research specialist The Nursery has announced that founding Partner Peter Dann has stepped aside as CEO and will be replaced by current COO David Alterman.
Founded in 2001, employee-owned the Nursery provides custom qual and quant brand strategy research, including employee mood studies, research among children, and advice for start-up businesses. Dann will now take an active role in building the profile of the company through new product development and brand projects, while continuing as key liaison with the Employee Ownership Trust, and acting as Chair of the Board of Directors until he retires at the end of this year. Alterman was previously one of the three majority shareholders and joined the company in 2007 to launch its quant offer. As CEO, he will be responsible for overseeing the company strategy, business performance and will continue to develop new and existing business.
In addition, Business Director Melanie Bigoni is to become Managing Director, responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of the company aside from the research offer, and instrumental in developing the marketing, sales and new business outputs; and long-time company exec Pauline McGowan, currently Research Lead, is to take the new role of Head of Strategy. Ben Moxon will assume new responsibilities for Business Development; Gareth Simmonds and Pete Canning will continue to head up the firm's core qualitative and quantitative research services; and Neil Barnett will continue as Finance Director; while Elena Geatches remains in the role of Head of Health, and Emma McHarg is still Head of Data Science.
Commenting on the changes, Dann said: 'In an employee-owned business we feel it's important to devolve management responsibilities across a wide group of Partners. For me personally it's really gratifying to see them step up to these roles, and with such a talented team in charge The Nursery's future is looking very bright indeed.'
