Blue Marble Promotes for New MD Role

Growing Bath / Bristol-based market and social research agency Blue Marble has promoted Tom Clarkson to be its first Managing Director.

Tom ClarksonSince joining Blue Marble in 2019 from a Research Director role at BritainThinks, Clarkson has led major studies for some of its key clients, including Defra, Citizens Advice and Crisis. In 2021 he led its pioneering 'Sink Sense' study, which used motion-sensitive cameras to understand household water usage, winning commendations from the MRS and AQR. Prior to BritainThinks he was head of the Financial Services Research team at ComRes; and he has been a regular media commentator, appearing on Sky News, BBC Radio 4 and in the Times.

In his new role he reports to Partners Emma Partridge and Naomi Kent and will lead the team day-to-day. Partridge comments: 'Tom's appointment to Managing Director reflects a period of strong growth for the agency - with a larger team delivering top quality research to a broadening client base. Tom has been an asset to the agency from the day he arrived... which was followed almost immediately by the pandemic. His cool head and natural leadership have been invaluable since and we are delighted that Tom, as MD, will be leading the agency to bigger and better things'.
