In the UK, parcel delivery giant Evri, which was previously known as Hermes, has hired MoneySuperMarket's former Chief Data Scientist Harvinder Atwal for a newly created role, Chief Data Officer. He is based in London.
Headquartered in Leeds, Evri provides a delivery and collection service for small and medium-sized enterprises and members of the public, via doorstep collection and within convenience stores. Atwal (pictured) joins after nearly a decade at MoneySuperMarket, which he joined in 2012 as Head of Customer Insight and Marketing Optimisation, leading a team of data scientists and analysts. Prior to this he worked for dunnhumby as Insight Director for the Tesco Clubcard; Lloyds Banking Group as Senior Manager, Customer Strategy and Insight; and British Airways as Senior Operational Research Analyst.
In his new role, Atwal will focus on developing a best practice data strategy for Evri, setting a vision for data for the next three to five years. Fash Sawyerr, Chief Transformations Officer, comments: 'This is a key area of our business and it's important that we have the right calibre of person in place. Harvinder is talented and experienced and we are confident will be a great asset to our team'.
