Marcoms group Stagwell has promoted Elspeth Rollert to become the first CEO of its Stagwell Marketing Cloud (SMC) division. She was previously its CMO.
SMC is a proprietary suite of data and planning products for marketers, including strategic customer research, communications and media activation and tapping technology such as gen AI and shared augmented reality. Rollert became the CMO in February 2022 and works closely with CTO Mansoor Basha.
Prior to joining Stagwell Rollert spent six and a half years at Uber as Global Head of Partnership Marketing, and earlier roles included Product manager at Microsoft, Consultant at IBM and an intern at the White House. She also spent a year at Stagwell CEO and Chairman Mark Penn's previous company Penn Schoen and Berland. She is also currently an executive in-residence at the NYU Stern School of Business, where she mentors MBA students interested in careers in technology.
Since taking the SMC CMO role she has led the division into a partnership with Google Cloud to develop marketing-focused generative AI solutions; guided the formation of real-time research suite Harris Quest; worked on the launch of ARound, a stadium-level shared augmented reality platform, with baseball and American football teams; and the acquisitions of insights platform Maru and location-based consumer behavior platform Epicenter Experience (now known as The People Platform).
Penn says of the promotion: 'Elspeth has helped accelerate SMC into an industry-leading suite of martech innovation, one of our fastest growing business units, and a core part of our business strategy. From Microsoft to Uber to working with us, I know she can drive business results for legacy and challenger brands alike and am looking forward to building SMC to be a great brand in modern marketing'.
Employing more than 13,000 people in more than 34 countries, the group is online at www.stagwellglobal.com .
