London-based reputation analysis and insights firm Echo Group has appointed former Buckingham Palace and BBC comms leader Sally Osman as its Non-Executive Chair. She replaces Neil Sherlock, who is stepping down after six years in the role.Echo was launched in 1990 and today serves more than 700 clients worldwide with insight and intelligence for reputation measurement, content analysis, stakeholder studies and benchmarking. The firm operates Britain's Most Admired Companies, the country's longest-running corporate reputation survey; is a registered Expert Witness in reputation in courts of law; and since acquiring Reputation Dividend just under a year ago has been home to the latter's pioneering assessment / valuation of intangible reputational assets.
Osman's career in strategic communications, corporate affairs and reputation management has spanned senior roles at the Palace, where she was Director of Royal Communications; the BBC; Sony; and Sky. In the middle two of these she was a client of Echo, with whose team she has worked for more than twenty years. Her work advising leaders on reputation strategy, stakeholder engagement and crisis management has earned her the rare honour of being an LVO (Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order).
'Sally's unparalleled experience in reputation and strategic communications will be a tremendous asset' says Group CEO Sandra Macleod, 'as we continue supporting clients to manage their reputations with intelligence, integrity, and impact'. She adds: 'With the help of Sally's leadership, we are well positioned to further enhance our offerings, strengthen our advisory services, and drive ever greater value for clients worldwide'.
Sherlock, who will remain on the firm's Client Advisory Board, served in the Coalition Government as a special adviser to Nick Clegg, and also served as a partner at KPMG and PwC, and as Chair of the Brexit Forum of the French Chamber of Commerce.
