Bart Michels, UK MD of WPP's brand development and insight consultancy Added Value, will take on the role of Global Chief Executive Officer from 1st July, replacing Janine Hawkins who is leaving the company.
Michels (pictured) joined in 2003 and has been the company's UK MD since 2007. Before joining, he spent three years at NTL as Group Brand and Communications Director, and he worked as Head of New Brands at Coca-Cola GB. He began his career in brand management at GlaxoSmithKline, before moving to Kellogg's where he helped to set up the GB Innovation team and eventually went on to become Marketing Manager for the Republic of Ireland and Media Controller for the UK.
In his new role, Michels will assume responsibility for Added Value's overall global business performance, and will report to Eric Salama, CEO of WPP's insight, information and consultancy arm Kantar.
Hawkins will leave after five years as Global CEO, and after eighteen years with the business, having previously worked at TNS and Philip Morris. It is not yet known what her next career move will be.
