Chicago-based market research retrieval and visualization company KnowledgeHound has closed a $1.2m round of seed funding, which it will use to expand its Data Visualization and Data Science teams and technology.
Co-founded in 2013 by former Procter & Gamble Consumer Insights Manager Kristi Zuhlke and technologist Andrew Soep, the company uses a natural-language search and data visualization approach to help researchers, marketers and sales teams find, visualize and analyze quantitative and qualitative consumer insights from their existing data.
New funding includes investments from Listen Ventures' Jeff Cantalupo and Mitten Group founder Mark Mitten.
Zuhlke comments: 'As part of Procter & Gamble's Consumer & Market Knowledge Group, it was my job to know everything about specific markets and consumers, and I would waste huge amounts of time searching for data that I knew we already had, but which I could never find. If I had that struggle at one of the world's best-run consumer companies, I knew everyone else had to be feeling the same pain'.
