In the US, pharma data giant IMS Health and healthcare consultancy Quintiles have confirmed details of the new senior management team to be established following their planned merger.
The firms announced the deal back in May, and the all-stock transaction will value the combined company - Quintiles IMS Holdings - at $17.6 billion. The merger will create one of the world's largest portfolios of healthcare information, therapeutic, domain, regulatory and commercial analytic expertise, as well as proprietary technology, with annual cost savings expected to total around $100m by the end of year three.
IMS Health Chairman and CEO Ari Bousbib (pictured) will lead the newly formed business. The team will include Quintiles CFO Michael McDonnell, who will take up the role of EVP and CFO; Quintiles EVP and General Counsel James Erlinger, who will retain the same job title; and IMS Health Chief of Staff Trudy Stein, who will become EVP and Chief HR Officer.
Global business leaders reporting to Bousbib will include, for the clinical research business Quintiles CEO Tom Pike, who will become Vice Chairman and President, Research & Development Solutions; and for the commercial business IMS SVP Information Offerings Kevin Knightly, who will become President, Information and Technology Solutions; IMS SVP, Global Services José Luis Fernández, who is to be named President, Global Services; IMS VP and GM, Real World Evidence Jon Resnick, who will become President, Real-World Insights; and Quintiles President, Integrated Healthcare Services Scott Evangelista, who will take up the position of President, Contract Sales Organization.
Commenting on the announcement, Bousbib said: 'I am proud to be part of a leadership team with deep industry knowledge, a proven track record of success and a commitment to transforming healthcare for the better. That commitment extends across the 50,000 talented professionals who will soon become part of one global team. Together, we are making excellent progress on our integration planning and are confident that we will be ready for a strong start on day one of the merger'.
