GroundTruth Appoints Kumar as CEO

In New York, location data specialist GroundTruth has appointed co-founder Sunil Kumar as CEO.

The company uses current and past location data from mobiles to track in-store visits and target / time promotions. It currently claims to cover two out of every three smartphone users in the US and more than 20 billion physical visits annually across 21 countries globally.

Kumar (pictured) has served as COO for the past two years, driving double digit growth and profitability, securing new patents and launching a self-serve platform. This year, he has also brought on board Jeff Hackett as SVP of Sales and Eric Hadley as Chief Marketing Officer. Before co-founding the company, he was a founder of V-Enable, which provided voice search solutions to major carriers.

In his new role, Kumar will be headquartered in Mountain View, CA with global responsibilities. Chairman of the board Steve Murray comments: 'As a co-founder of GroundTruth, Sunil has been instrumental in the development and growth of location-based technology and marketing for nearly 10 years.
