Buyout firms Court Square Capital Management LP and HGGC LLC are said to be working with investment bank Evercore Inc. to explore the sale of digital data collection specialist Dynata, with reports suggesting the price tag could exceed $3bn, including debt.
Reuters, which quotes 'people familiar with the matter', suggests the decision reflects a trend for private equity firms looking to 'cash in on the demand for market data from large corporations, consultants and investment firms'.
Dynata, previously known as Research Now SSI, was formed from the merger of the two companies, announced in autumn 2017 and has since bought insights and marketing services umbrella Reimagine Holdings Group, the parent of Critical Mix, MarketSight and PopResearch. Dynata had 12-month EBITDA of around $250m last year.
Court Square acquired Research Now in March 2015, a few months after Palo Alto, California-based HGGC took a majority stake in SSI. To date representatives for the three companies have not commented on the rumours.
