ROAM App Launches for Local Shopper Targeting

July 6 2020

In the UK, a Durham-based digital entrepreneur has developed an app which collects data and provides local shoppers with up-to-date offers.

Andrew BartlettFormer jockey turned app developer Andrew Bartlett (pictured) has launched the new, free 'ROAM APP' which provides users with targeted information about shops and services, based on their GPS location. Businesses can use it to share offers, menus, news and loyalty deals direct via mobiles.

The tool can also monitor where members of the public are gathering within retail outlets, so that people can avoid crowds or queues while social distancing remains in place. After lockdown is eased, the functionality gives the public up-to-date information so that they can see which businesses are busy or quiet, and make decisions about when and where they shop.

Commenting on the launch, Bartlett said: 'I firmly believe that the high street still has an important part in the retail economy. We've seen a trend towards online sales particularly during the pandemic but nothing can beat personal customer service or the ability to see, demonstrate or try on the goods we buy. Digital is the solution to the decline of local shopping not the enemy and ROAM brings together app technology with bricks-and-mortar businesses'.
