Singapore-based real-time data security and management specialist Borneo has raised $15.5m in a Series A round of funding, which it will use to continue investment in its technology platform.
Borneo provides a suite of tools through which to identify sensitive personally identifiable information, using machine learning techniques and open APIs. This integrates with existing tools and workflows, enabling companies to achieve privacy compliance. The company, which also has offices in San Francisco and Bengaluru, was founded last year by Prithva Rai (pictured), who previously worked as a security exec at Facebook and Uber.
Funding was led by Vulcan Capital with participation from Prosus Ventures, Lytical Ventures and existing investors Wavemaker Partners, and takes the total raised to date to $18m. Paul Santos at Wavemaker Partners comments: 'This new round will be rocket fuel for Borneo to help more hypergrowth cloud-based start-ups with real-time privacy data management. We are excited to be part of Borneo's journey to build trust in data privacy'.
