German research firms Exevia GmbH and Psyma Health & CARE have announced a merger, and with immediate effect will operate within the larger Psyma Group AG as Psyma+Exevia Health GmbH.
Psyma Group describes itself as 'the largest privately owned market research institute in Germany' and has 260 employees in eight countries, with headquarters in Rückersdorf, near Nuremberg. The firm works in B2C and B2B market research in industries including automotive, financial services, consumer goods, e-business, media, telecoms and mechanical engineering, and despite its background in psychology and qual now says quant accounts for around half its turnover. In addition to quant surveys face-to-face, by telephone, online panel or web interception it also offers online communities, ethnography and social media monitoring.
Nuremberg-based Exevia was formed in 2014 by four former senior GfK execs, including current shareholders Norbert Schell and Roland Herterich who will join Psyma Group CEO Bernd Wachter as MDs of the new organisation. The combined company's expertise will include pharmaceuticals, medical technology and dental markets, and the three MDs will be joined in the leadership by the previous management team of Psyma Health & CARE, Cornelia Wagner and Krish Guckenberger.
According to Wachter,the companies 'complement each other excellently in many ways', and will create 'under the umbrella of the Psyma Group, one of the most powerful pharmaceutical market research institutes in Germany with more than 30 employees and a clear focus and specialization on the healthcare market'. Schell and Herterich, who remain shareholders in the new firm, comment: 'Our customers benefit from the bundled health knowledge and extensive methodological competence. With the network and infrastructure of the Psyma Group, we can significantly expand our capacities and accelerate our international orientation without neglecting our national business'.
