In the US, web data extraction and integration provider Import.io has been acquired by venture equity firm Scaleworks, for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in London in 2012, and now based in Texas with an additional office in India, Import.io extracts and analyzes eCommerce data, then integrates it into customers' analytics platforms and business applications. Import.io analyzes thousands of web site feeds, collecting more than half a trillion data points per month. Resulting data can be used to build insights for price tracking and MAP compliance (minimum advertised price), customer sentiment and product ratings analysis, and monitoring search results and category rankings.
As part of the deal, Scaleworks Partner Paul Lynch (pictured) has been named Chief Executive Officer, replacing long-time CEO Gary Read. Read is now an Advisor at StoryFit, a firm which delivers AI insights and machine learning solutions to the book publishing, movie and TV production sectors.
Commenting on the takeover, Ed Byrne, General Partner of Scaleworks, said: 'This is an exciting acquisition for Scaleworks and an excellent addition to our portfolio. Import.io provides critical services to its customers and has an excellent technology pedigree. We look forward to working alongside the Import.io team and its CEO Paul Lynch in this next phase of the company's expansion'.
