Turnover Leaps in Record Year for Basis

July 4 2024

UK- and US-based insight agency Basis has reported turnover up an impressive 26% to £30 million in its financial year 2023/4, marking its best 12 months ever. The momentum includes all three of its teams - Consumer and B2B, Health, and Social - in both countries.

Rune MortensenBasis Research was founded in 1990, and provides ad hoc and tracking solutions for clients in media & entertainment, retail, financial services, FMCG and fashion, among other sectors. In 2018 it launched a global healthcare practice, Basis Health, followed in 2021 by a Social research practice. In addition to its London HQ the agency has offices in New York, Chicago (2 locations, one for Basis Health) and Los Angeles.

Basis has a division called Ideas.ai, which in April launched what it describes as 'the world's first Generative Business Intelligence solution'. This uses an 'always-on' AI approach known as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) 'to open up powerful insights from a vast array of sources', including first-party qual, quant and sales data, and wider social and search information.

The firm attributes its record results to a 'relentless focus on attracting and retaining outstanding talent', with growth accompanying enhancements to employee benefits, international secondments, an annual international company retreat, and a 'hugely successful' grad programme.

Group CEO Rune Mortensen comments: 'This year is absolutely exceptional for Basis, and we are delighted to see continued growth across a broad range of clients, sectors and methods. Our approach is focused on delivering smart, custom insight consultancy, and this demonstrates our continued ability to do so at scale'.

Turnover figures are as-yet unaudited. The company, recently awarded Quirks' Agency Of The Year, is online at www.basisresearch.com .
