Ten months on from its original announcement, the acquisition of US-based b2b purchase intent specialist TechTarget by British company Informa Plc has been approved by shareholders, and should complete next week.
The firms announced in January that b2b services group Informa would pay $350m in cash to combine its digital businesses - including Omdia and Information Week - with tech publisher and advertising / lead generation specialist TechTarget. The merged business will be known as New TechTarget and Informa will hold a majority stake. Current Informa Tech CEO Gary Nugent (pictured) will relocate to Newton, MA, where New TechTarget will be headquartered, and serve as its CEO while Michael Cotoia, current CEO of TechTarget, will advise Nugent to ensure a smooth combination.
This week a Special Meeting of Stockholders approved the transaction, which is now expected to complete next Monday, 2nd December . The new firm's shares will trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker TTGT. Other Informa units joining the new business include Industry Dive (Specialist B2B Content/Brands), NetLine (Demand Generation and Buyer Intent), and digital media brands Light Reading, Heavy Reading and AI Business.
