In New Orleans, data collection and fraud prevention tech firm Rep Data has received an unspecified amount of growth investment from Colorado-based private equity firm Mountaingate Capital, with which to strengthen its Research Desk and Research Defender platforms, and expand its offer.Rep Data was founded in 2019 by former Lucid / Research Now exec Patrick Stokes (pictured) and provides full-service data collection solutions for primary quant research studies. Eighteen months ago it acquired data quality and anti-fraud software platform Research Defender (previously SampleChain), which offers tools for matching respondents to relevant surveys and preventing sample fraud / duplication. In the summer of 2024 it launched what it claims is ' the industry's first DIY offering of voter-matched sample for public opinion researchers and pollsters', available through its Research Desk platform.
'From day one, we set out to raise the standard for research data integrity' says CEO Stokes, 'and this growth investment enables us to push even further - advancing our fraud prevention technology, expannding our tech-enabled services, and ensuring that researchers worldwide can trust the data they collect'.
Mountaingate MD Sue Cho says Research Defender 'sets a new standard for fraud prevention in the industry'. She comments: 'Rep Data's rapid growth, innovative technology, commitment to data integrity, and impressive management team position it as a clear industry leader, with significant opportunities to further expand its impact and drive accelerated growth both organically and through strategic acquisitions'.
