Material, the US-based consumer insights, brand strategy and product innovation group which grew out or LRW, has appointed its former co-Chair Laila Worrell as its new Chief Executive. She replaces Bill Kanarick, who took over the role three years ago.Insight-led marketing services firm LRW Group acquired multiple companies in 2019 and transformed in mid-2020 into Material, promising clients 'a truly integrated partner that can create and implement marketing strategies that are built not only on data and analytics, but also on a deeper understanding of human behavior'. The group uses proprietary behavioral science approaches to understand the drivers of customer demand, and combines this with advanced data, analytics and AI to predict and influence demand curves and accelerate growth for clients.
Worrell (pictured) brings thirty years of experience to her new role: she led the strategic repositioning of digital engineering services company Aricent, aiding its $2 billion sale to Altran Technologies, and became CEO of Altran Americas. In this role she drove the transformation of operational performance, contributing to the company's acquisition by Capgemini for more than $5.5 billion. Earlier she worked in leadership roles at BCG and Accenture. She has served as an Executive Fellow at Harvard Business School, and on a number of corporate and non-profit boards.
Material Chairperson Eric Nadan says the board has observed Worrell's impact first-hand, and has 'great confidence in her leadership'; welcomes her 'clarity of vision and bias for action'; and concludes: 'We know our people - and our clients - will be inspired by her vision and leadership as she takes Material to new levels of performance'.
