Appinio Hires Leader for North American Expansion

Hamburg, Germany-based research platform Appinio has appointed Matt Ayers as its new General Manager USA, as it aims to 'sustainably expand and advance its North American business'.

Founded in 2014 by Jonathan Kurfess (now Chairman), Max Honig (CEO) and Kai Grana&slig; (CTO), Appinio is B-Corp certified and now employs more than 260 people servicing more than 2,600 clients. The firm had talked about going global in 2019, but after winning recognition earlier this year for its rapid growth from Deloitte's and the Financial Times, Honig put the emphasis firmly on international expansion: 'The year 2023 was all about accelerating growth after the recession low in 2022 and building teams and structures to establish a global organization. It was a year of record margins and our fifth consecutive year of positive cash flow. The focus now is on replicating this success story worldwide'.

Ayers joins from insights and marketing group Material where he has spent the last fifteen years, growing and leading a team of qualitative strategists - initially in London and later in New York, where he established an office in 2013. In his new role, as part of the Appinio leadership team, he will oversee the growth and strategic direction of the firm's North American business.
