Start-Up Behavix Builds Senior Engineering Team

Behavioural data firm Behavix has appointed Mika Ristimäki, Pete Ropponen and Dmitrii Tikhonov to its product engineering team in its Helsinki headquarters. Cint veteran Oscar Carlsson also joins the company as strategic advisor.

Behavix was launched out of beta a month ago by former Verto Analytics execs Hannu Verkasalo and Surath Chatterji, aiming to disrupt the market for online behavioral data. The firm delivers behavioral data as a service (DaaS) to market research companies, financial institutions and others, passively collecting data from an opted-in audience network to provide businesses with insights into consumer behavior across devices, apps and walled gardens.

Ristimäki brings nearly twenty years of experience in behavioral data and research technology, joining as Chief Architect, charged with leading engineering activities. He previously held leadership roles at Zokem, Arbitron/Nielsen, Verto Analytics and DISQO.

Tikhonov and Ropponen join Ristimäki's team with decades of software architecture and engineering experience. Tikhonov brings experience of creating sophisticated data processing pipelines and working within the fields of online security and safety, at firms including F-Secure and DISQO. He will focus on maintaining high standards of data security and ethics. Ropponen has worked at Reaktor, Adidas, KLM/Air France and Rovio (Hatch Entertainment), and Behavix says his knowledge of 'low-level internals' of operating systems makes him a key asset to its mission.

New advisor Carlsson is already giving the benefit of his wisdom to decentralised data marketplace Datality and pricing optimization and market intelligence specialist PriceAgent. He joined sample marketplace Cint in 2000 and was appointed its Chief Innovation Officer in 2017, having earlier served as Global VP Product. He will now work closely with Behavix' leadership to drive strategic partnerships with panel companies and data buyers.
