Komodo Launches Prescription Data Service

In San Francisco, healthcare tech company Komodo Health has launched a prescription tracking service called National Drug Projections, offering real-time intelligence for specific groups of medications on US prescription volume, units dispensed, and new patient starts.

Komodo Health combines a detailed view of 'patient encounters' and clinical data with AI tools, promising 'to connect the dots between individual patient journeys and large-scale health outcomes'. The firm says its services help to inform revenue forecasts, market share tracking, marketing resourcing, salesforce sizing and other commercial objectives, and allows clients to close gaps in care, address disease burden and create 'a more cost-effective, value-driven healthcare system'.

The new offering taps a 'vast' array of de-identified insights from the firm's 'Healthcare Map' - itself derived from Medicare claims, commercial claims and health records from over 300 million individuals, for more than 10,000 therapies, and covers both pharmacy benefit (retail and specialty) and medical benefit drugs - with brands, biosimilars, and generics grouped together or broken out - to allow rapid comparison of medications side-by-side, and identify opportunities in the market.

The firm says the new solution forms a foundation for a number of planned launched in the next months and into 2025, including future IC-grade, subnational and indication-based projections.
