Belfast- and London-based eCommerce solution provider Ocula Technologies has closed a £4m Series A funding round, for use in expanding its operations and accelerating software development.
Led by former dunnhumby, Deloitte and Bain exec Thomas McKenna (pictured), Ocula provides web site analysis, customer intelligence and price optimization solutions for eCommerce clients. A proprietary AI tool analyses each page versus best in class and competitors; prioritises the pages and elements clients should focus on to maximise the uplift from their limited time and budgets; and helps with the upgrade required using auto-generated SEO friendly product descriptions and alt tags.
Together with the funding, the firm has also announced a new feature which creates search-optimized, brand-aligned copy at scale, tailored for multi-language support.
The Series A includes investments from NYO Capital and former Google and dunnhumby North America leader Jose Luis Gomes, and follows a £3.25m investment led by Praetura Ventures in August. NYO Capital will assist the company in its expansion in the US market. McKenna says the funds and partnerships are 'testament to what we have developed and how much potential people can see in our AI product'.
