Consumer intelligence giant NIQ has appointed Steen Lomholt-Thomsen, a former CRO of analytics firm Clarivate who also spent five years as a VP at business data firm IHS, as its new Chief Commercial Officer.
NIQ was previously NielsenIQ, and grew out of the ratings giant's sister firm Nielsen Connect, formerly its Buy division. It is in the process of integrating with GfK, after the two firms completed a merger last year. The combination creates a company with operations in more than 95 countries measuring 97% of the world's GDP, and nearly 25,000 clients, offering 'a powerful view of the total store and the total consumer'.
Steen brings extensive experience leading revenue growth and operational excellence in complex global organizations in the UK and Denmark. He joins from Cybersecurity firm BullWall where he was Chairman and then CEO during a two and a half year stay, the earlier Chairman's role overlapping with a full-time job as CRO at Clarivate. Before this he spent four years at engineering software firm AVEVA, also as CRO, and earlier he held SVP role at IHS (now part of S&P Global). During the 1990s and 2000s he spent seven years in management and senior roles at JDC/NCR corporation, ten years as a Sales Director and later VP at IBM, and was a Vice President at HP. He holds a Master of Science in Marketing, Strategy and Finance, and an MBA, from Copenhagen Business School.
NIQ says he brings a deep understanding of global markets, client engagement, software and technology. According to COO Tracey Massey, 'Steen is a proven leader with a track record of success across industries. His experience in operational excellence and building client relationships makes him a perfect fit to advance our strategic goals'.
Lomholt-Thomsen, who started the new role last Friday, is based in NIQ's Geneva, Switzerland office.
