UK-based insight industry languages specialist Empower Translate has appointed former Panelbase / DRG and Norstat leader Paul Wealleans as Chief Executive Officer, working alongside Global CEO, founder and Chair Ruth Partington.
Empower offers 'insight localisation', including translation and transcription, coding, SimTrans (interpreting) and content analysis exclusively for the research industry. Founded in 1997 by Ruth Partington as RP Translate, the firm rebranded five years ago and has since made a number of senior appointments with growth in mind, including a first Commercial Director and a Chief Revenue Officer. Last month it added Silvia Dürrsperger as a Senior Director, based in London.
Wealleans (pictured) spent two decades in management and director roles in the media industry, thirteen at Northeast Press Ltd and six and a half at The Scotsman, before joining the research sector around ten years ago. Since then he has served as MD at Northumberland companies Panelbase and DRG, and subsequently as MD UKI for Norstat, which acquired them eighteen months ago.
Partington says of the new arrival: 'We are delighted to appoint Paul as CEO at a time of global expansion for Empower into APAC and the Americas. Paul brings with him a wealth of industry knowledge, enthusiasm for the Empower vision, and strong leadership skills - all of which are vital to our strategic growth as a localisation business'.
