In Austin, Texas, technology research, media and advisory firm The Futurum Group has announced the appointment of former GfK researcher Dan O'Brien as President and COO. He joins from IBM where he was VP of Analyst Relations.
Futurum's research and advisory services are grouped around twelve major tech sectors. Since mid-2022 the company has grown rapidly, partly through four acquisitions: B2B CX research, media and advisory business Dash Network; B2B insight and marketing company Visible Impact; San Francisco-based media company the Business Podcast Network; and tech community publisher and data firm Techstrong Group.
At IBM, O'Brien (pictured) led one of the largest AR teams in the world across software, services and infrastructure markets. Before this he worked at GfK, setting up its semiconductor research and advisory practice; and earlier he spent nearly a decade in the semiconductor capital equipment market at Teradyne, in roles across marketing, finance, product and investor relations. He holds a BSc in Marketing, with a minor in Economics, from Providence College.
As President and COO he will oversee Futurum's strategic approach to sales, marketing, research and business operations, including solutions portfolios for performance lab & testing (Signal65), lead generation and media (Techstrong, Tech Field Day, Six-Five Media), and the newest Product & Platform offerings for intelligence and data.
'I have had the opportunity to personally work with Dan over the years and I am confident in his visionary leadership style and ability to make impact in a dynamically shifting space', comments CEO Daniel Newman.
