Product development and A/B testing platform Statsig has become the latest and one of the largest acquisition for OpenAI, which is paying $1.1 billion for it in an all-stock deal.Statsig promises clients the ability to build a complete set of metrics for potential new products, develop them iteratively using 'flags' and experiments, and then apply advanced product analytics to the results.
Statsig CEO Vijaye Raji will join OpenAI as CTO of Applications, heading up product engineering for ChatGPT and AI coding tool Codex, among others. He reports to Fidji Simo, the former CEO of Instacart, who is another new arrival at the firm.
The acquisition is as yet subject to regulatory review. If and when this passes, Statsig's staff will join OpenAI but Statsig will continue to operate from its current Seattle base and will operate independently, according to a blog post.
