Rare MRS Gold for Retiring IJMR Editor Mouncey

Peter Mouncey, outgoing Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Market Research (IJMR) has been awarded the MRS Gold Medal, after fifteen years in the role. He is only the twelfth recipient of the medal since 1982. Dr Daniel Nunan becomes Editor in his place.

The award recognises the 45 years he has spent 'supporting institutions that protect and promote the market and social research sector'; including 26 years as a member of the society's Market Research Standards Board and five on its Main Board for five, in roles including Hon Secretary Treasurer and Chair. He has also chaired the Research Development Foundation (RDF) and client association AURA, and served as a Visiting Fellow at Cranfield University's School of Management.

The IJMR was founded in 1958 and focuses on 'excellent practice and new thinking' in research, insight and data analysis worldwide, providing a bridge between practitioners and academics 'to share, discuss and debate all aspects of research, insight and data'.

Nunan is Reader in Marketing & Head of the Marketing Group at the University of Portsmouth, and assumes the role of IJMR Editor while Professor Yuksel Ekinci, Professor of Marketing at the university, becomes Associate Editor.

Mouncey says the last fifteen years have been highly rewarding and enjoyable: 'I've been supported by a committed and enthusiastic Executive Editorial Board to make changes to the journal's content and extend the IJMR brand to include quarterly lectures, a methods conference and sessions at the main MRS annual conference. IJMR could also not function without the many members of the Editorial Advisory Board - the voluntary role they play to peer review submissions helps ensure a high standard of content and they are the unsung heroes that underpin publishing'. MRS CEO Jane Frost says the Society is 'immensely grateful to Peter for his commitment to IJMR and the fantastic progress he has overseen throughout his tenure'. Dr Nunan adds: 'The journal has gone from strength to strength under Peter's stewardship, doubling the number of submissions and growing its range of internationally renowned authors'.
