Former HBO Domestic Television President Scott Carlin has joined US-based custom researcher and strategy adviser Magid as EVP, Global Media & Entertainment, based in Los Angeles.
Carlin, who was responsible for bringing shows such as The Sopranos and Sex & The City to the to the network, worked in Magid's local team in his first job after college. He had served in the President's role at HBO for seven years, helping to generate $1bn in revenue for the network; and earlier worked as EVP for Warner Bros. Domestic Television and Lorimar-Telepictures, overseeing the development and launch of more than 100 television series, movies and specials.

The news follows a raft of other senior hires for the firm this year, including former Coke insights leader Jane Fuller as VP, Strategy Consultant and Brian Ahladas as VP of its Media Strategy Group, both in February; Brian Katz as SVP, Product and Data Strategy in May; former GfK exec Tim Spenny as SVP focused on emerging tech and innovation, in June; and former CMI Research exec Steve Flynn as SVP in Atlanta, the following month.
