In Germany, former McKinsey execs Ingo Lange and Tobias Roelen-Blasberg have joined with researcher Maximilian Lüders to launch a company called MARA | Market Research Automation with a EUR 147k pre-seed funding round of investment.Lange was previously an Analytics Consultant at McKinsey & Co, while Roelen-Blasberg worked there as Data Science Specialist working on the group's prescriptive analytics platform Periscope, having previously been a Research Associate at business software giant SAP. Lüders most recently worked as a consultant, supporting projects relating to market strategy and pricing for clients in the industrial goods and machinery sectors, and conducting research on business customers' online behaviour.
Their new firm MARA is based in the city of Karlsruhe and will use natural language processing and artificial intelligence to mine online customer reviews, gauging customer perceptions about products and product categories as an alternative to conducting market research in the field.
The pre-seed round of funding comes from EXIST, a support programme of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).
