In Australia, online automotive, motorcycle and marine classifieds business Carsales has hired former Tesco exec Mark Cripsey for a newly created role, Chief Product and Data Officer.Cripsey (pictured) joins in Melbourne after running his own digital transformation consultancy Impact Squared. Prior to this he was an advisor for Bain & Company, COO for retailer Lovisa, and COO for department store group Myer, where he previously served as Chief Digital and Data Officer. Earlier, he was General Manager of grocery eCommerce business Coles Online, having spent the previous seven years at Tesco in India, the UK and US; latterly as Chief Information Officer.
In his new role Cripsey will lead the company's product, data and program teams. Carsales CEO Cameron McIntyre described the position as a 'transformative role for Carsales'. 'Mark's experience and expertise will support Carsales' global nature and help to lay the foundations for the company's long-term success and future growth. His wealth of experience and knowledge will add significant value and capability to the company's product, data and program teams'.
