In the UK, medical fieldwork business Medicys has launched a division called MediLAB, which will provide linguistics and analysis services for both the company's fieldwork and non-fieldwork-based clients, across all sectors and countries.
Founded in 2002 and based in Kent, Medicys provides qual medical fieldwork for clients in European and other selected markets, with services including recruitment, interviewing, translations and reporting - for doctors; local, regional and national-level payors; and nurses, pharmacists and patients. Earlier this year, the firm participated in a £2m investment round in Measure Protocol, a blockchain marketplace for person-level data.
The new MediLAB division is staffed by specialists in the research sector who are native speakers of the target language, providing translation, simultaneous translation and transcription services. Managing Director Frank Desbuquois comments: 'Back when Medicys started, I remember how difficult it was to find good, competitively priced linguistic / analyses suppliers; so much so that, very quickly, we decided to internalise this work stream. Making this expertise available to others feels like the next natural step'.
