Consumer and fashion trend analysis and forecasting specialist WGSN has launched a Consumer Tech division, led by Silicon Valley-based Director Lisa Yong.
WGSN is owned by B2B media group Ascential (previously Top Right and Emap), and uses forecasting, analytics and custom research techniques to study fashion season trends in apparel, accessories and interiors. The firm says its new division will aim to help clients create innovative products and experiences.
Yong joins with more than twenty years' design experience across Asia, Europe and the US, working with Samsung, Microsoft and Sonos. Sarah Housley, former Senior Strategist at WGSN Lifestyle & Interiors, will take on the role of Head of Consumer Tech with more than ten years' experience in trend forecasting, spanning product design, materials innovation and technology.
Yong says that as technology continues to permeate all aspects of consumers' lives, it's essential for companies to understand new behavior and expectations and develop the right products they will want and need for years to come. Carla Buzasi, President & CEO of WGSN, adds: 'WGSN Consumer Tech offers specialised insights into evolving consumer tech trends, from up-to-the-minute movements to ten-year forecasts, on one platform'.
