In the US, product development and optimization insights specialist Birdie has raised $7m in an additional round of seed funding, which it will use to expand its team, increase its coverage to fifteen countries, and deliver new NPD capabilities based on spontaneous user opinions.
Palo Alto-based Birdie, which also has offices in Miami and Sao Paulo, uses artificial intelligence and natural language processing to help CPG organizations analyse and understand unstructured data from millions of consumer comments, reviews and other online conversations. The firm already monitors more than 150 data sources - including online retailers, app stores, discussion forums, and private customer experience systems such as call centers, satisfaction surveys and social media listening platforms - and has plans to triple this number during the next year.
New funding was led by SoftBank Latin America Fund and Illuminate Ventures, with additional participation from Fusion Fund, Astella and Endeavor Catalyst, adding to the $1.6m initial seed funding round raised in 2019. Birdie co-founder Alexandre Hadade (pictured) comments: 'We want to thank our investors for their support, as we look to scale our company further. Birdie is meeting its vision of disrupting market research by helping companies stay on top of their products' lifecycle performance with access to real-time, actionable insights and consumer opinions thanks to our patent-pending AI-powered platform'.
