US-based consumer data privacy start-up Cloaked has raised $25m in a Series A round of funding, which it will use to continue to improve its technology and exit beta, scale its team, and establish partnerships within the industry.Founded in 2020 by brothers Arjun and Abhijay Bhatnagar, Cloaked provides an app through which individuals can choose what, when, where and with whom they share personal information. When browsing online or in-person, Cloaked automatically generates unique e-mail addresses, phone numbers, credit card details, passwords and other account information; with a new, encrypted database created for each user to store personal information which they can store, control, manage or delete at any point.
The firm's new funding was co-led by Lux Capital and Human Capital, and follows a $4m seed round in January. Baris Akis, co-founder, President and Managing Partner at Human Capital, comments: 'We're thrilled to be co-leading our third consecutive round at Cloaked. We had the opportunity to meet Arjun and Abhijay through our inaugural Delta Fellowship, and were struck by their passion for assembling great teams, and their mission to build impactful products'.
