In the US, global analytics and advisory firm Gallup has promoted Jon Clifton to the role of Chief Executive Officer. He replaces his father, Jim Clifton, who had served as the firm's CEO since 1988 and will remain as Chairman of the Board.
Founded in 1935 by George Gallup, the Washington DC-headquartered company was later acquired by Selection Research Inc., which had been established in 1969 by psychologist Don Clifton (Jim Clifton's father). Gallup focuses on understanding the attitudes and behavior of employees, customers, students and citizens, and its World Poll survey claims to connect with more than 99% of the world's adult population with comparable metrics across countries. Initially a predominantly US-based business, the company is now a worldwide organization with 30 offices in 20 countries and regions.
Clifton Jr (pictured) joined Gallup in 2008 as Deputy Director of the World Poll, and more recently, served as Global Managing Partner, advising global leaders on how to support their organizations and countries with analytics-based insights. He takes over day-to-day leadership of Gallup from his father, who held the role of CEO from 1988 to 2022, and is the creator of The Gallup Path, a metric-based economic model which establishes the links between human nature in the workplace, customer engagement, and business outcomes.
Commenting on the news, Robin Renee Sanders, former US Ambassador to Nigeria and Republic of Congo, and member of Gallup's Board of Directors, said: 'As the new CEO, Jon's leadership and vision will ensure that Gallup will be the global data leader on the cares and concerns of the everyday person no matter where they are in the world - on top of helping political and business leaders better understand their strengths and weaknesses as they either govern their citizens or engage their workforce.'
