Brand measurement platform On Device Research has appointed M:Metrics co-founder Seamus McAteer as an independent Director, to help build the business in North America and advise on overall product and corporate strategy.
Founded in 2009 by former M:Metrics execs Alistair Hill and Tim Cleminson, On Device uses proprietary technology to deliver targeted data from profiled global panels. In December, the company launched a respondent quality and fraud prevention system called Behaviour Trap, to enhance the quality of data provided to brands, advertising agencies and media owners.
McAteer (pictured) joins after a career which has included co-founding mobile ad targeting firm Metaresolver; and audience measurement specialist M:Metrics (later sold to Comscore). He also founded user engagement analyst Datasnap.io and then sold it to consumer data firm Neustar, and more recently he co-built a measurement tool for streaming video called StreamMetrics, and sold it to real-time commerce firm Tradeswell. In addition, he built the industry research practice at Majestic Research, now M-Sciences, and was part of the exec team during its sale to ITG; and as SVP at Millennial Media, he built Omni-Measurement, the firm's ad effectiveness measurement platform, after the company acquired Metaresolver.
Additionally, McAteer has held independent director roles at mobile web analytics firm Motally (acquired by Nokia); Aviso Partners, a research company that is now part of Nielsen IQ; and mobile measurement firm Zokem (acquired by Arbitron). Hill comments on McAteer's appointment: 'It's great to have Seamus join us at such a crucial stage in the company's development. Seamus' experience will help us in accelerating our expansion into North America alongside wider overall company development'.
