Software developer NuMind has closed a $3m seed funding round, which it will use to continue building its NLP tool focused on 'text understanding'.Led by founders Etienne and Samuel Bernard, the firm is a product of the YCombinator start-up hothouse, and the seed round was led by investor Flybridge. Its platform allows both B2B and B2C customers to create custom NLP (natural language processing) models powered by large language models (LLMs), for use in tasks such as analyzing sentiment, detecting topics, moderating content and creating chatbots. Existing customers have developed models for uses such as medical coding, legal report review, user feedback analysis, and matching resumes with job postings.
CEO Etienne Bernard (pictured), quoted on www.kmworld.com , states: 'We are living a revolution thanks to large language models such as GPT-4, but tools to take advantage of them are not mature yet. Tackling applications such as content moderation or sentiment analysis still requires ML experts and an intense labeling effort. Our goal at NuMind is to make this revolution accessible to all, starting with language understanding. It's a game changer in terms of speed and efficiency for all the companies needing this type of AI'.
The firm has offices in Paris, and in Cambridge, MA, USA - and is online at www.numind.ai .
