In the US, linguist Fernando Castro has launched a company called New England Language Services, to help market research agencies and strategy consultancies interview and understand multicultural audiences for the brands they serve.
Castro (pictured) is currently an Adjunct Faculty Instructor on the English as a Second Language (ESL) program at Harvard University and Northern Essex Community College in MA. His new Boston-based business specializes in working with multicultural communities, and provides a range of services which includes providing in-language qualitative interviewing and in-language focus groups, recruiting and moderation of multicultural audiences, recruiting hard-to-reach audiences, localization services, and translations of in-depth interviews and focus groups.
The aim of the company is to help businesses learn how multicultural individuals think, connect and behave, and languages covered include Spanish, Portuguese, French, Haitian-Creole, Mandarin, Russian, and others upon request. Additional services cover translation of surveys and transcription of focus groups and phone surveys.
