Audience targeting solution Covatic has appointed Frans Vermeulen as Strategic Advisor, to strengthen the company's presence in the US market.
Birmingham, UK-based Covatic helps media companies deliver addressable advertising without revealing personal data. Its 'ID-less' technology covers all major platforms, helping brands understand their audiences without extracting, collecting or sharing individual consumer data. In May, the firm raised $5m in a Series A round of funding, which it is using to scale its audience segmentation tool, A-Type, and its market reach.
Vermeulen (pictured) joins with nearly 25 years' of experience of building and growing media, tech and data companies. He previously worked for consumer data and credit reporting agency TransUnion as VP, Strategy & Market Development, Media Vertical; and Chief Operating Officer of TV audience data firm Tru Optik, which was acquired by TransUnion in 2020. Earlier he worked for Comcast as VP, Platform Services Strategy & Advanced Advertising Development; and FreeWheel (later acquired by Comcast) as SVP, Global Solutions & Corporate Development; having begun his career at DoubleClick. He is also currently an Advisor to several firms including Iris.TV and OpenSlate.
For Covatic, Vermeulen is tasked with driving partnerships and sales in the US. Nick Pinks, CEO and co-founder, comments: 'Covatic's rapid growth shows the potential of our technology for advertising, by tapping into previously unreachable audiences, and unlocking invaluable revenue for businesses. Frans' experience will be key to our mission of becoming the standard for the industry and we're excited to have him join us in rolling out our full suite of digital solutions and smart speaker capabilities in the US'.
