NatCen Searches for New CEO

September 19 2023

London-based charity the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) has begun its search for a new Chief Executive Officer, following current CEO Guy Goodwin's announcement that he will be stepping down from his post next May.

Guy GoodwinNatCen partners with governments, NGOs, charities and other organisations to conduct social research in the UK. Goodwin (pictured) joined in 2016 from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) where he was the Director of Social and Analysis, responsible for publications on a range of policy areas from population and migration to crime, and health and wellbeing; and he also served as UK Director of Social Statistics at the European Union. Earlier he was Director of Population and Demography and Head of Social Data collection during more than twenty years in leadership roles in the Government Statistical Service.

Throughout the next few months, he will be working closely with the NatCen Board of Trustees and leadership team to support the recruitment of his successor and provide an effective transition and handover of responsibilities. In a statement, Goodwin said it has been a pleasure to lead NatCen for the last seven years, and that he is particularly proud of how the organisation and its staff and interviewers responded during the pandemic.

Sir Stuart Etherington, Chair of NatCen's Board of Trustees, adds: 'On behalf of NatCen and its trustees, we are very grateful to Guy and the outstanding contribution he has made in advancing the organisation. When Guy was appointed, the organisation was in a very different place. During this time, we have consolidated our business and grown different areas of policy research, strengthened our operations, and continued to innovate in our survey methodologies'.
