Video understanding company Twelve Labs has raised $10m in a funding round, with which to expand its operations and business reach.
Twelve Labs defines its mission as 'helping developers build programs that can see, listen, and understand the world as we do'. Its software analyses video content including audio and text elements, identifies actions and objects, classifies scenes and extracts topics, and establishes summaries, chapters and captioning. Users can also describe a moment in words and be taken straight to the relevant scene.
Uses, according to a recent TechCrunch interview, can include ad insertion and content moderation / brand safety considerations; media analytics; and for automatic generation of highlight reels, blog post headlines and tags.
The round included cash from NVentures, Intel and Samsung Next. The firm is led by CEO Jae Lee and headquartered in San Francisco, with an APAC office in Seoul. Web site: www.twelvelabs.io . Thanks to www.finsmes.com for some of the above.
