Not-for-profit industry organisation Audited Media Association of Australia (AMAA) has announced that long-standing CEO Josanne Ryan is leaving the organisation in mid-November. It has also appointed one of its Directors, Patrick Whitnall, to the newly created role of Managing Director of AiMCO.
The AMAA was formed in 2003, through the merger of the country's Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) and Circulations Audit Board (CAB) and uses those two brands to deliver audited media data including circulation and distribution of print and digital versions, web site analytics, exhibition and conference attendance and e-mail newsletter distribution. During the past three years, the AMAA has worked alongside the industry to build an industry body in the Australian Influencer Marketing Council (AiMCO), to support agencies, marketers, talent mangers, creators, and the many businesses within the creator marketing ecosystem.
Ryan joined in 2015 after a career which included senior roles with News Corp Australia, and previous experience at publishers ACP Magazines (now Bauer Media Group), Pacific Magazines and Fairfax Media. More recently she served as Marketing and Strategy Director of News Community Media and News Corp Australia. Her next career move has not yet been disclosed. Whitnall takes up the new MD position, after serving as AiMCO's Deputy Chair and then Co-Deputy Chair, and as a Director of AMAA. Prior to Marketing and Sales roles in two private companies in the last two years, he was MD of Content in Publicis' Sport & Entertainment division.
Jason Tonelli, Chair of AMAA, comments: 'For almost nine years, Josanne has led the AMAA with passion and integrity as a tireless advocate for our industry. Amongst her many achievements she leaves a substantial legacy with the establishment of a vibrant and valuable new industry body, AiMCO, along with its impressive awards and new capability program, AiMCO Accreditation'.
