Snowflake, whose Data Cloud and Marketplace allow companies to collaborate in building data applications, has acquired clean room solutions provider Samooha.
Data clean room solutions allow partner companies to work together on apps and solutions making use of each other's proprietary data without breaching privacy rules. Snowflake has partnerships with customer data collection and modeling specialist Snowplow, AI-based analytics platform ThoughtSpot, cross-platform audience-targeting specialist OpenAP and Canadian marketing services and data firm Environics Analytics, and in addition to providing clean room facilities helps companies collaborate for purposes including customer acquisition, engagement, segmentation and retention.
Snowflake says the new investment 'will make it even easier for companies across industries to take advantage of privacy-preserving clean room functionality'. Samooha is built on the Snowflake Data Cloud and allows users in multiple industry sectors to design and deploy data clean rooms using pre-defined, highly customizable templates. It also uses Snowflake's Snowpark and nascent Streamlit technologies to allow the building of high-performance apps using the languages and tools of their choice. A no-code, UI-driven experience is available for non-developers, as well as developer mode access for more technical users.
The deal is expected to close by the end of December, subject to conditions. Samooha's nineteen staff including its CEO Kamakshi Sivaramakrishnan and co-founder Abhishek Bhowmick will join Snowflake.
