Longtime Ipsos exec and current Global Head of Audience Measurement Liz Landy is to leave the company at the end of this month. Daniel Wong-Chi-Man will step up to Lead the Audience Measurement Service Line globally, while Ipsos iris leader James Oates will add responsibility for the business in the UK.
Landy worked in research roles at the BBC and then from 1994 at RSL, which was acquired by Ipsos. She became Director of Ipsos Media in 1997 and then Managing Director and a member of the Board in 2001. When Ipsos MediaCT was launched in 2007 she was MD of the new division and helped to manage mergers with MORI, OTX and Synovate. In April 2015 MediaCT was merged with ASI and Landy became CEO of the resulting unit, Ipsos Connect. In 2018 she became Global Head of Audience Measurement, with a remit to expand the group's footprint in readership, TV, radio, OOH measurement, ad ex and software.
Wong-Chi-Man was appointed for a newly created role, Head of Global Marketing and Business Development, three years ago, and had previously managed global insights teams at international media owners including The Economist, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. In his new role he will oversee global development of Ipsos' cross-media measurement capabilities, focusing on commitments in the group's 2025 growth plan.
Oates will add his new role as the Head of the Audience Measurement and Media cluster in the UK to his existing leadership of UKOM-endorsed UK online audience measurement solution Ipsos iris, which he has led for the past two years and which was also rolled out in Australia a year ago. Prior to Ipsos he spent 23 years at Nielsen, working with continuous panel-based approaches, including MD and other roles at Nielsen Media and Nielsen IQ. His newly added responsibilities include drawing together innovative approaches from across the firm's audience measurement and media businesses, including offers such as MediaCell and Ipsos iris, to bring additional value to clients.
Global CEO Ben Page comments: 'I am delighted to be welcoming two such strong leaders into their new roles. They will continue to drive Ipsos' ability to marry research acumen with the latest technology and innovative new approaches in the fields of AI and data science to speed up processes and guarantee the quality and robustness of the insights we provide. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Liz Landy for her enormous contribution to Ipsos' audience measurement business over the last thirty years and her role in turning it into the leading business that it is today'.
