In India, Ipsos has acquired mobile and online panels firm Crownit, which claims the country's largest community of consumers, spanning 40 cities. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.Ipsos already operates an online panel, iSay, in India but the buy will allow it to digitize a good proportion of its currently off-line research capabilities, in a country where mobile access reaches many areas other Internet services do not. In turn this means the global group can reach a broader spectrum of socioeconomic groups, enhancing the representativeness of its digital sample.
Ipsos Global CEO Ben Page says this means a wider audience and more robust insights, while Crownit Chief Exec Sameer Grover (pictured) comments: 'Joining the Ipsos family is an important milestone for our company. We are excited to leverage our mobile-first platform and expertise to enhance Ipsos' data collection capabilities and support their vision of the future of market research in India. We are excited to serve our clients with combined strengths of Ipsos and Crownit'.
